For Bittern Line users traveling between Norwich and Sheringham the last train home is currently 10.45pm during the week, and 8.36pm on a Sunday evening.
For those living in towns and villages like Sheringham, Cromer, West Runton, and North Walsham, this is leaving passengers having to cut short their evenings in Norwich. For those having to catch a connection from London it is cutting trips short in the capital too.
Whether train users are meeting friends in Norwich, catching a gig, or attending a performance at the theatre, passengers are left either clock watching or having to stay in the city if they want to enjoy their night.
After pressure from passengers Greater Anglia said they would look into running later trains in the evening over a year ago. However, a number of excuses from the train firm and National Rail has meant action has yet to be taken one year later. Greater Anglia seem open to passenger feedback, so we are keen to push this with them. The move for a later train – perhaps an hour later than at present – would give an economic boost to nightlife not just in Norwich but for other towns on the line too.
We are calling on the train firms to ensure that no one is left behind at night by providing later evening trains on the Bittern Line. Please sign and share this petition.
