On behalf of North Norfolk Labour Party, can I thank everyone who supported and voted for Labour in North Norfolk at the general election on 8 June and at the county council elections on 4 May.
Congratulations to Norman Lamb on his re-election. Clearly ‘tactical voting’ to keep the Tories out saved the seat for the Lib Dems. There is a big anti-Tory majority in North Norfolk which was reflected on the streets over the last few weeks. The public mood shifted towards Labour and our vision of hope for Britain. The results across the country show that the British people want change.
I hope Norman Lamb can now deliver much needed investment on the issues in North Norfolk that kept coming up during the election campaign: from mobile and broadband coverage to coastal defences, affordable housing and transport as well as health and care for our ageing population and education for children and young people. The continuing tensions over Brexit mean that we may face another election soon if we are to get a deal that meets the needs of the many.
Labour set the agenda on these national and local issues throughout the campaign and we will continue to hold the government and our MP to account. You can join us – the party in North Norfolk with the largest membership – by visiting www.norfolklabour.co.uk
