Denise Burke, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for North Norfolk writes:
The shocking six hours plus wait for an ambulance experienced by Barbara Hedley shows how far the ambulance trust has to go to meet the needs of our ageing population in the villages and towns of North Norfolk.
Also shocking is Norman Lamb’s complacency. It is ‘unacceptable’ for the Health Minister to condemn every problem in the health service as ‘unacceptable’ when he has Ministerial responsibility. Mr Lamb can’t continue to act as a commentator – he must fix the problems, particularly those on his patch.
With the winter months looming, Mr Lamb’s Ministerial colleague Lord Howe is being remarkably brave in predicting that the ambulance trust’s performance will improve before Christmas.
We will continue to hold Mr Lamb, Lord Howe and the coalition government to account for the NHS in the lead up to the general election on 7 May 2015. Whether it’s poor response times, the crisis at the Norfolk & Norwich, or the long waits to see a GP – North Norfolk residents deserve better.
