Denise Burke, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for North Norfolk writes:
It’s good news that the Environment Agency has confirmed (EDP, 2 June) that Norfolk’s coastal defences will be reinstated following December’s tidal surge and Labour’s Protect our Coast petition.
There are several concerns however. What will be done at Blakeney? How will defences be improved, for example, at Walcott where villagers are still recovering from December’s damage? What about ongoing maintenance and support given the planned job cuts?
So while we welcome the latest announcement, we will continue to press the Environment Agency and the Government to do more to protect our coast and communities in North Norfolk.
