Many, many thanks to everyone who helped the Labour campaign in North Norfolk over the last few months.
We delivered hundreds of thousands of leaflets, spoke to thousands of voters on the doorsteps, displayed hundreds of garden boards and posters, replied to thousands of emails and letters, spoke at many public meetings and events. This significantly raised Labour’s profile in North Norfolk.
I am proud to have been your Labour candidate. I am particularly delighted that the Labour vote increased by almost 75% here while Norman Lamb’s majority was cut by two-thirds. It means the voters have sent him a clear message after five years of voting with the Tories.
But I am disappointed that we didn’t make a breakthrough on the district council after so much hard work.
That disappointment reflects the result nationally for Labour. We need time to reflect on what happened across the country and how Labour fights back. The prospect of another Tory government means we will all face major challenges over the next five years.
In the meantime my thanks for your support for me as your Parliamentary candidate, and for your local Labour team.
